As a kid...

Growing up, I had not one but TWO entrepreneurs for parents. I wanted to be my own boss from a young age. But right out of college I got a job at a well known accounting and consulting firm because it was "the smart thing to do." So I put my passion into volunteering and that's where I discovered that people learn and connect really well in the context of play.

I left the cubicle life and got my masters in counseling, focusing on play therapy. Fast forward a few years and I was tasked with creating team building activities an event facility could sell. I hired a consultant to work with me to design engaging and interactive team exercises and the fire was lit. We trained under Project Adventure and I studied facilitation under two individuals with well over 20 years experience each.

Then the entrepreneurship bug bit me...

Just a few years later, I couldn't ignore the desire to build my own firm any longer. I started designing and offering live team building events. The thrill of making a sale and seeing my event participants high fiving and chest bumping was addictive. I knew I'd found my calling.

I pursued my own professional development by training with Disney, joining a professional association and pursuing leadership opportunities. The longer I was in business, the more team building programs I designed and the more I had the opportunity to work with fantastic companies and organizations.

But I also realized there were many groups with small budgets that couldn't afford my services. I started to wonder what I could offer in the way of a solution to small businesses, schools, and team leaders with smaller budgets.

I created a Team Building DIY Toolkit...

I spent nearly a year creating an initial three do-it-yourself programs. I wrote scripts, I recorded videos, I made lists of materials, devised time-lines and so much more. We ran a train-the-trainer and a beta program through my team building company. But other than a few groups, I couldn't figure out who needed the programs or how to get it into their hands. And so I sat on it, too busy with live events to do the research and market the toolkit effectively.
